If yous're running lots of preamp gain into a high wattage power amp that barely gets into the compression region, and never begins to clip, so you won't see a lot of different, except for maybe the tonal spectrum may change a little.

As are Kt77'due south and 6CA7'due south.
Correct at present I'm leaning toward kt77's, considering the reviews are much more positive, and the 6CA7 gets expert reviews as well, but my amp is already very lowmid & bass heavy, and reading between the lines, the 6CA7s are pretty girthy.

They bias more than similar to a EL34 tube than a 6l6GC tube. There transconductance are similar (~9.v-10 mA/5 vs 10.v-xi.v mA/5)
The two tube types are vastly different in construction....
The beam tetrode has less third harmonic distortion than the pentodes (EL84 or EL34), and when grid biased at 50-threescore% idle dissipation the beam tubes tend to audio fuller and richer at lower volumes.. In my stance the pentodes really excel when played loud when they start to break upward in a filigree biased push button pull amp.
For a clean audio i find that they audio richer and fatter with lower voltages and more current.
My experience with the TAD EL34B-STR is that they sound similar EL34 and not 6l6GC. They are fairly aggressive and sounds best when run through a closed 2x12 or 4x12 to give them more lesser.. My next move is to effort a pair of JJ 6CA7 in my 1x12 open back philharmonic to give it a slightly more beam tube audio at medium volumes..
